At The Girly Birds, we offer safe, gentle ear piercings for children ages 3 and up using single-use, sterilized hollow needles (never piercing guns). We specialize in piercing the outer shell of the ear, including:

• Earlobes

• Second lobe piercings

• Most cartilage areas

Required Documents for Minors in Texas

To keep your child safe and stay compliant with Texas law, we follow regulations outlined by theTexas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) underTexas Administrative Code Title 25, Part 1, Chapter 229, Subchapter Y, Rule §229.406(e)(2).

Here's what you’ll need to bring with you to your appointment:

✅ The minor’s certified birth certificate or valid passport

✅ Government-issued photo ID for the parent or legal guardian

✅ Legal guardianship paperwork (if the accompanying adult is not the biological parent)

✅ Parent or guardian must be present during the entire appointment

• Comfy clothes and hair back away from the ears. We have drinks at the studio and a small treat if parent allows

• A calm mind—we’ll walk them through every step with kindness and care

Here’s what to expect:

• We use hollow, single-use needles for a clean, accurate, and more comfortable piercing.

• Everything is sterile, pre-packaged, and safe.

• We explain every step to both you and your child, and we only move forward when your child is 100% ready.

We never rush the process—your comfort and safety come first.

💧 Aftercare: Keep It Clean, Keep It Cute

Proper aftercare is essential to healing well. We provide detailed instructions at your visit and sell the only solution we recommend: Sterile saline spray—available at our studio.

Here's your aftercare routine:

• Clean the piercing twice a day using our saline spray

• Wash hands first before touching or adjusting earrings

• Avoid swimming, submerging in pool or lake

• Healing times:

  • Lobes: ~6–8 weeks

  • Cartilage: ~3–6 months

• Watch for signs of infection (redness, heat, swelling, or discharge) and contact us if anything seems off
